Six tools
Line, leader, and spool.
Pound-test pairings are field practice. Diameters and PE size follow the Japan Fishing Tackle Manufacturers Association. Spool yards are a geometric estimate.
Line tools
Fishing Line Weight Chart
Pick a pound test and see a common leader range for that main line. These are field pairings, not a strength formula.
02Braid to Fluorocarbon Chart
Braid leaders are usually about half to two-thirds of the braid's labeled pound test. Check the spool before you buy.
03Fishing Line Diameter Chart
A field approximation by pound test, plus the JAFTMA standard diameter for Japanese gou size.
04PE to LB Conversion Chart
JAFTMA sets PE size in denier. One gou is 200 denier. The pound test on the spool is the maker’s choice.
05Monofilament vs Fluorocarbon vs Braid
Mono stretches and floats. Fluoro sinks and is harder to see. Braid is thin, has almost no stretch, and needs a leader in clear water.
06Reel Spool Capacity Calculator
Estimate yards from arbor diameter, spool width, line depth, and line diameter. The capacity printed on the reel is the measured number.
