Wire Figure-Eight Loop

1 / 5Frame 100 / 100

The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

Bend the wire into a loop.

  2. Step 2

Cross the tag into a figure-eight.

  3. Step 3

Start the barrel wraps down the standing wire.

  4. Step 4

    Finish the barrel.

  5. Step 5

Break the tag off by bending it, or trim it flush. The loop stays open.

Common mistakes

  • No barrel after the figure-eight, so the loop opens.
  • A tag left long enough to catch the lure.

Used on

This knot is for hard baits more than a soft-plastic rig.
