    The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

    A standing rope splits into three loose strands.

  2. Step 2

    Crown: each strand lays over the next one, clockwise, and the ends come up in the center.

  3. Step 3

    Wall: under that crown, each strand goes under the next strand.

  4. Step 4

    Dress the crown on top of the wall. Three short ends stand up, and the standing rope leaves below.

Common mistakes

  • Crowning before the wall is tight.
  • Strands out of order.
