The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

Lay a dropper strand across the main line.

  2. Step 2

Form a uni loop with the dropper strand around the main line.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the short end through the loop.

  4. Step 4

Close the barrel. The long end hangs down.

  5. Step 5

Trim only the short end. The hanging strand stays.

Common mistakes

  • A barrel that is not closed, so the dropper slides to the fly.
  • Tying the uni in the main line and cutting it. You just weakened the leader.
