Triple Surgeon's Loop

1 / 5Frame 100 / 100

The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

    Double the line.

  2. Step 2

Pass the doubled end through the loop once.

  3. Step 3

Pass the doubled end through again. That is pass 2 of 3.

  4. Step 4

Pass the doubled end through again. That is pass 3 of 3.

  5. Step 5

Wet the knot and pull the doubled end and the standing line. Leave the loop open.

Common mistakes

  • Stopping one pass early on braid.
  • Dressing a twist into the loop so it hinges offline.

Used on

This knot is for hard baits more than a soft-plastic rig.
