This line

The spider hitch is weaker than a Bimini in braid. Use it when you need a double in a hurry.

Avoid when

A record application where you wanted a Bimini and tied this because it was faster.

The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

Double the braid and form a small reverse loop.

  2. Step 2

Pass the doubled line through that loop three times.

  3. Step 3

Two more passes through the same loop. Five in all.

  4. Step 4

Pass the big doubled end through the small loop.

  5. Step 5

Pull the standing line. The small loop becomes the knot. Leave the double open.

Common mistakes

  • The big loop missing the small loop.
  • Wraps that fall off the finger loop before you pull.

Used on

This knot is for hard baits more than a soft-plastic rig.
