Step 1
Unlay a short end.

Step 2
Crown the strands.

Step 3
Lay turns back over the rope with a strand.

Step 4
Tuck the ends.

Step 5
The whipping should cover the unlaid part.
The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.
Common mistakes
- Whipping only the outside and ignoring the strands.
- One strand left out of the crown.
