Step 1
Lay the rope along the spar or the loaded line.

Step 2
Two turns toward the load.

Step 3
Cross over.

Step 4
One locking turn on the other side.

Step 5
Pull toward the load. It should grip.

Common mistakes
- The two gripping turns on the wrong side of the load.
- Only one turn, which will not grip.
