Rapala Knot

Step 1
Tie a loose overhand in the line before it reaches the lure.

Step 2
Pass the tag through the eye and back through that overhand.

Step 3
Wrap the tag around the standing line three times.

Step 4
Pass the tag back through the overhand.

Step 5
Pass the tag through the big loop the wraps just made.

Step 6
Snug the knot but leave the loop open. Trim the tag.
The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.
Common mistakes
- Closing the loop tight to the eye.
- Missing the big loop after the three wraps.
Used on
This knot is for hard baits more than a soft-plastic rig.
