Perfection Loop

This line
You can tie it in braid, but fly leaders are usually mono or fluoro.
Avoid when
Rushing the dress. A cocked perfection loop knots the leader butt on every cast.

Step 1
Cross the tag under the standing line to form the first loop.

Step 2
Form a second loop behind the first.

Step 3
Pass the first loop through the second.

Step 4
Dress the knot so the open loop stands straight off the line.

Step 5
Trim the tag. Leave the loop open and in line with the standing part.
The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.
Common mistakes
- Passing the wrong loop through, which will not draw into a perfection.
- Leaving the tag on the same side as the loop.
