The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

Pass the tippet through the hook eye.

  2. Step 2

Bring the tag behind the standing line and form one open loop.

  3. Step 3

Pass the tag through that loop once.

  4. Step 4

Pass the tag through the same loop a second time, beside the first pass.

  5. Step 5

Wet it. Pull the tag until the two passes snug, then pull the standing line and trim.

Common mistakes

  • Only one pass through the loop, which slips.
  • Cinching dry 5X–7X tippet.
