Line Aligner Knot

A carp hair-rig knot with a kicker. After the line returns through the eye, a small loop is trapped against the shank so the hook turns and lines up on the take.

This line

A coated braid link is the usual material. Plain braid is too soft to kick the hook.

Avoid when

A plain hair rig with no turn. That is the knotless knot without the kicker.

The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

Enter the eye and run down the shank.

  2. Step 2

Come back through the eye and leave the hair.

  3. Step 3

Form the kicker loop against the shank.

  4. Step 4

Trap the kicker as you tighten.

  5. Step 5

Add the stop on the hair.

Common mistakes

  • The kicker loop on the wrong side of the shank, so the hook kicks out.
  • No stop on the hair, so the bait slides off.
