Avoid when
Closing the loop. The whole point is a fixed loop at the bait.

Step 1
Double the line.

Step 2
Pass the doubled end through the eye.

Step 3
Pass the doubled end through its own loop 3 times.

Step 4
Finish 4 passes.

Step 5
Tighten the surgeon's knot and leave the loop open. Trim the end of the double.
The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.
Common mistakes
- Passing the doubled end through only once.
- Trimming the wrong strand and opening the double.
