Step 1
Double the class tippet.

Step 2
Lay the shock leader alongside the double.

Step 3
Wrap the shock tag around both legs of the class tippet.

Step 4
Pass the shock tag back through the wraps.

Step 5
Cinch the shock onto the double.

Step 6
Trim the shock tag. The class tippet remains doubled on the other side.
The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.
Common mistakes
- Wrapping the shock around one leg only.
- Trimming the class-tippet loop off. Some rigs need that loop.
