Eskimo Bowline

The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

Form the small loop the other way from a standard bowline.

  2. Step 2

Tag through the loop from the far side.

  3. Step 3

    Around the standing part.

  4. Step 4

    Back through the loop.

  5. Step 5

Dress it. The loop stays open and the load sits on the loop.

Common mistakes

  • Tying the standard bowline and renaming it.
  • The tag pulled out of the collar before it is dressed.

Used on

This knot is for hard baits more than a soft-plastic rig.
