Duncan Loop

Step 1
Pass the tag through the eye and lay it back beside the standing line.

Step 2
Form a loop with the tag. The wraps will pass through this loop.

Step 3
Wrap the tag through that loop 2 times. The turns go around the standing line.

Step 4
Complete 5 turns through the loop. Do not let them cross over each other.

Step 5
Pull the tag until a barrel forms, then stop while a loop is still open at the eye.

Step 6
Set the loop to the size the lure needs, then trim the tag. Do not slide the barrel all the way to the eye.
The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.
Common mistakes
- Sliding the barrel all the way to the eye.
- A loop so large the lure tangles.
Used on
This knot is for hard baits more than a soft-plastic rig.
