The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

Make a ring, or use the hook bend, and fold a bight in the line.

  2. Step 2

Pass the bight through the ring.

  3. Step 3

Pass the standing line through that bight.

  4. Step 4

Pass the bight through the ring a second time.

  5. Step 5

The hitch should sit tight and the standing line should leave straight.

Common mistakes

  • Passing the bight through and forgetting to put the standing line through the bight.
  • A second pass that crossed, so the hitch will not seat.
