The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

    Form the small loop.

  2. Step 2

    Tag up through the loop.

  3. Step 3

Around the standing part the outside way.

  4. Step 4

Back down so the tag lies outside the collar.

  5. Step 5

Dress it. The loop stays open.

Common mistakes

  • Pushing the tag inside and calling it a cowboy bowline.
  • Leaving the tag so short it slips through the collar.
