The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

Pass the tag through the eye and lay it along the shank.

  2. Step 2

Hold that tag. Start wrapping the standing line around the shank and the tag. 3 turns so far.

  3. Step 3

Complete 6 wraps working down the shank toward the bend. Keep them touching.

  4. Step 4

Pass the standing line back through the eye from the same side the tag entered.

  5. Step 5

Wet the wraps and pull until they lock in a tight band under the eye. Trim the tag.

Common mistakes

  • Wraps that spiral apart instead of forming a band on the shank.
  • Pulling so hard the line cuts a light fluoro leader.
