Braided Loop Insert

Step 1
Open the end of the fly line.

Step 2
Push a loop of braid into the core.

Step 3
Start whipping the throat where the braid enters.

Step 4
Add more turns over the throat.

Step 5
The loop stays open beyond the whip.
The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.
Common mistakes
- No open loop left after the whip.
- Whipping turns that do not cover the point where the line is doubled.
Used on
This knot is for hard baits more than a soft-plastic rig.
