On braid, use more wraps or the stop creeps. A contrasting stopper strand is easier to see.

Avoid when

A stop cinched so tight you cannot slide it. It should move when you push it and hold when you fish.

Bobber Stopper Knot

1 / 6Frame 100 / 100

The drawing follows this tying order. Pause, step, or scrub to stay with the words. The standing line runs to the reel. The tag is the short end you trim. Skin-hook means the point lies flat in the plastic, not out where grass can grab it.

  1. Step 1

Lay a short stopper strand against the main line.

  2. Step 2

Form a loop in the stopper strand.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the stopper through that loop 3 times.

  4. Step 4

    Finish 5 wraps.

  5. Step 5

Pull the stopper tag so the barrel cinches on the main line. It should still slide when you push it.

  6. Step 6

    Trim the stopper tags short.

Common mistakes

  • Wraps around a loop that was never closed, so the stop falls off.
  • Trimming the tags flush before the stop is tight.
